The Hollywood Reporter sends word that comedian Michaela Watkins has been cast in CBS Films’ upcoming romantic comedy The Back-up Plan.

She will take on the role of Mona, the longtime best friend of Jennifer Lopez’s character, a fed-up wannabe mother who meets a promising romantic prospect the same day she receives artificial insemination.

The screenplay was written by Kate Angelo (Will & Grace); Alan Poul (Six Feet Under) is directing. Filming begins next month in Los Angeles.
