I believe this report is true.  CBS Films is in final negotiations with Dwayne Johnson to star in Faster, an action drama set to Johnson’s next film.

The move will be directed d by Phil Joanou, who directed Johnson in Gridiron Gang.

Johnson lately has been familiar with family comedy hits. Faster places him in a character who has a darker side with action as the foreplay.

Johnson’s character is an ex-con with a mission to avenge death of his brother, who was murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist.

Filming is schedule to begin in August.
