HBO has finally decided on letting Tom McCarthy direct the pilot episode of upcoming fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling “Songs of Fire and Ice” novels, the show will chronicle an epic struggle for power set in a fantasy kingdom.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss penned the script. They are also onboard as series producers.
