Various sources are reporting that Twisted Pictures, The Genre Company Rat Entertainment and LightTower Entertainment are teaming up to produce a potential horror franchise starter Mother’s Day.

The film will be a loose remake of Charles Kaufman’s 1980 cult horror classic which follows a family of sadists which is led by a smart, manipulative mother. The family returns to the house they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.

Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2-4) will helm the remake. Scott Milam penned the script. The film is planned for release on Mother’s Day 2010.
