And yet another Aussie hopes to make his mark in Hollywood, as the trades are reporting that scribe Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night, Australia) will make his directorial debut on the young-adult novel Tomorrow, When the War Began.

He will work on adapting the first novel in the popular seven-book series by John Marsden. They follow the insurgency efforts of a band of teenagers fighting off an enemy invasion and occupation of their homeland.

Hollywood hopes to make a trilogy of films from the first three books and if they are successful enough, the last four books will be turned into a television series.
