Variety sends word that Katherine Heigl (27 Dresses) will star in and executive produce the upcoming romance film Life as We Know It.

It will follow two adults whose worlds are turned upside down when their mutual best friends die in an accident and they are named as caregivers for their orphaned daughter.

Greg Berlanti is set to direct. He is best known for Brothers and Sisters and Dirty Sexy Money.
