Christine Lahti, Maggie Grace, Hal Holbrook, Cary Elwes, Jonathan Tucker and Joanna Cassidy are set to star in a young and the restless tale of a young woman coming to terms with her father’s suicide when she returns to her small town. First-timer Derek Magyar will direct Flying Lessons from a screenplay by Thomas Kuehl, a semifinal script of the Nicholl Fellowship .

First time director Derek Magyar will start shooting August 24 in Santa Ynez, California.

As a bit of trivial information, Magyar is an actor (Boy Culture and Star Trek: Enterprise) and the son of Dezso Magyar, who ran the American Film Institute for 14 years and is now a film professor at Chapman University.
