District 9 beat 2007′s Superbad and last year’s Pineapple Express for best opening day for an R-rated Sony movie and the second highest opening day for an R-rated movie in August. Pretty much young males are reaching into their pockets to buy their tickets for District 9, which brought in a whopping $14.2 million.
