‘District 9′ Wins Box Office

On August 16th, 2009

I must admit that I am very happy to see District 9 on the top of the box office this weekend because it’s such an unusual film. Hopefully, studio suits are racking their minds trying to find more films that are not repeats, reboots or remakes. I hope they add to their working vocabulary “original.”   Ponyo, which its theme is based on “Little Mermaid,” scored over $3 million for just showing in 967 theaters. That is awesome and I am a huge fan of Miyazaki.
