Disturbance 2013 Online Review–Short, Sharp and Scary
So digging around on YouTube I found another short horror film called Disturbance 2013. The title caught my eye, sure enough–but would the film live up to its implications?
Billed as a horror / mystery by its studio, Elantra Films, two roommates find themselves forced to ask one simple and ultimately horrifying question: “who’s the dead chick in the bathtub?”. And as our dynamic duo tries to find out the truth, what they’ll find will ultimately change lives…or end them.
I have to admit, that’s a really, REALLY original premise. You don’t ordinarily start out on a note like that. And when you find out where they’ve gone with it, well, that’s just one really big surprise waiting to happen. Short films normally suffer from the gravest limitations of all, including not being able to tell the story in the space they have allotted, whether it’s because they have too much story or even not enough. But Disturbance 2013 manages to do the job nicely, and will be both scary and suspenseful up until the thrilling conclusion.
The Screenhead Ten Scale, as a result, gives Disturbance 2013 a solid eight out of ten for doing exactly what it sets out to do and doing it well, especially given the constraints under which it operated. A spooky and solidly done thriller overall, this one’ll make you stop drinking.
