McQuarrie To Write ‘Wolverine’ Sequel
The next Wolverine movie has a writer, Christopher McQuarrie. McQuarrie is all too familiar with the character. He won an Oscar for writing The Usual Suspects for Bryan Singer, and then joined the director to write 2000′s X-Men. As a good sport, McQuarrie voluntarily took his name off the movie when the final version was more in line with David Hayter’s script than his. Oh, McQuarrie also worked on the Tom Cruise movie, Valkyrie, which Singer directed.
As for the Wolverine sequel, Hugh Jackman is set to return as the mutant with healing powers and a skeleton laced with the indestructible metal known as adamantium. Of course, Jackman is also producing by way of his Fox-based Seed shingle along with Lauren Shuler Donner.
The movie’s story line will follow the 1980s rendition from Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries. The scene is set in Japan and features Wolverine contemplating ninjas as he struggles whether to go along with his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai’s code of honor and respect.
The story line was hinted at in one of the movie’s concluding sections after the credits.
As a final thought: with McQuarrie writing the script does that mean Singer might direct the sequel?
