Three English Actors Join ‘John Carter on Mars’

August 24th, 2009 in Actors, Book-to-Movie, Directors, Fantasy, Sci-Fi -

Disney’s John Carter of Mars, adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs book series, directed by Pixar guru Andrew Stanton, signed on three English actors: Samantha Morton, Dominic West and Polly Walker.

It appears the casting in rounding out nicely with Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe already on board. The story follows a Civil War veteran (Kitsch) who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where he becomes embroiled with the planet’s warring people.

Morton is set to play Sola, the daughter of Dafoe’s Tars Tarkas.  She must hide her softer side from her warmongering race.

West is set to play Sab Than, prince of the Zodangans who believes he is entitled to rule Mars.

Walker is set to play Sarkoja, a merciless, tyrannical Thark.

Stanton wrote the screenplay and, hopefully, production of the film will start early next year.
