Appetence Online Review–And We’re Back!

September 15th, 2009 in Horror, Movies, Reviews -

Okay, apparently, the new stuff for the Halloween Horror Nights 2009 short film contest is coming out, because we got a press release for these like twenty minutes ago.  Thus, we’ve decided to tuck right in and fill you in on the latest and greatest.

The big difference here, of course, will be that you can vote for your favorite, and that favorite could win a thousand bucks.  So go make some director’s day.

Anyway, the first one in the rotation is called Appetence, and it focuses on an art professor for whom art doesn’t imitate life so much as life imitates art.

It’s an interesting enough idea, but it really doesn’t work well in a short film.  It’s over too quickly and it blows off all its good surprises in a matter of seconds, entirely too rapidly.  As a short film this one sucks, but I would’ve loved to see a feature length version.  I think it could’ve really done some damage if it had had room to grow.

But as it stands, the Screenhead Ten Scale hands Appetence a five out of ten for trying and mostly failing.
