Death Of A Dude Online Review—Dude…What Just Happened?
And merrily we roll along through the rest of the Halloween Horror Nights short film competition, this time stopping in at a little film called Death of a Dude.
Sadly, I’m not even sure what happened in this one–about all I can make out plotwise is that a stoner discovered some guy wandering around his house wearing a giant papier-mache head, who subsequently died in his arms while a clock ran.
That’s about it. This strange black-and-white tale of not much in particular is full of unusual images, but trying to add these images together to form anything resembling a narrative is an exercise in futility of unimaginable size and scope.
The Screenhead Ten Scale knows when it’s licked and hands over a one out of ten to this total waste of bandwidth. It’s not “cool” or “ironic” when you make a movie only you understand. It’s not good storytelling to force the audience to guess what they just watched. That’s LOUSY storytelling. And that’s why this movie is so purely godawful.
