The Prank Online Review–Fantastic Burst of Creepy
And so, there’s more out of the Halloween Horror Nights film competition to talk about, except this time, we’ve got one of the best short films out of the 2008 edition to discuss, a little title called The Prank.
The plot’s fairly simple on this one: when a man decides to get a little revenge on his wife for scaring him after seeing a scary movie, he gets a whole lot more than he bargained for.
First, kudos for the brief flash of fully-possessed Regan head from The Exorcist they slipped in there. Second, DOUBLE kudos for the last fifteen seconds of this movie, which will be some of the scariest fifteen seconds of video you see in a while.
This is really nicely done for amateur short film. Seriously, I’ve got some real respect for these guys for taking a lousy trope like “let’s go skeer th’ li’l womun” and turning it into something a whole lot nastier.
The Screenhead Ten Scale gives this excellent short an eight out of ten. The Prank is an excellent quick dose of scares that just might keep you up tonight.
