And so, here it is–Panic Attack, the movie that’s soon to be a big-deal movie direct from Sam Raimi and crew.  It’s amazing what the right kind of short film on YouTube will get you.  Just ask Neill Blomkamp if you don’t believe me!

Anyway, Panic Attack involves a slew of giant robots stomping hell out of Montevideo, Uruguay.

Why?  No one knows.

Frankly, no one really CARES.

See, the problem with this video is that, unlike Alive in Joburg, the other great career-launcher from YouTube, it has NO PLOT.  None.  None at all.  A synopsis of the entire video might well read like this:  “Giant robots blast hell out of Montevideo for reasons we will only explain if someone hands over a metric ton of money so we can make a feature-length film around these characters”.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome little short, and the animation is downright phenomenal.  I could almost see this happening.  But it has no point at all.  Not one.  As a short film it is a GRAPHIC failure.

But as a scene from a larger film?  As a teaser trailer?  It’s absolute gold.

The Screenhead Ten Scale finds something vaguely odious about this entire line of reasoning and thus hopes to nip it in the bud by issuing a three out of ten.  It’s an awesome sight, but considering it lacks virtually all the elements of an actual film, it appears to function as little more than a huge commercial.
