Panic Attack–The Next Big Sci-Fi Franchise?
Folks, if this doesn’t make you want to grab your camcorder and your editing software and start running amok, then I don’t know what will. Remember how District 9 got started by Neill Blomkamp making the short film Alive In Jo’Burg and getting noticed by Peter Jackson, who in turn got Blomkamp a load of cash?
Well, the same thing is apparently looking to play out, this time with Federico Alvarez, a little short called Panic Attack, and none other than Sam Raimi.
Panic Attack features an army of giant robots going quite thoroughly postal on Montevideo, which for you who aren’t up on your South American geography is in Uruguay (relax, I didn’t know either). And by all reports, this sucker’s a doozy. Don’t worry–we’ve got it covered right here.
This seems to be the start of a trend, and for mecha buffs, this is the start of something great. At least two other giant robot movies are in the works, so we can all feel a little better about this.
