What I once thought was merely the last desperate gimmick of a desperate, aging, badly beleaguered industry is apparently catching on in a big way.

You may remember that we just recently discussed the idea of Zombieland’s (pretty much inevitable from the start) sequel coming out in 3-D if Sony was willing to pick up the tab.  Well, apparently, Sony IS willing, and annoucements have been made.

But what you may not already know is that another 3-D title has been announced and, if it’s actually possible, makes even MORE sense than a 3-D Zombieland.

It’s the third Jackass.

Yes, now Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and the rest of the crew of halfwits will be flinging themselves off things, into things, onto things, and doing associated other things the whole time.  In a way, I look forward to this as, if the other two were any indication, the third should be a spectacle of idiocy and dangerous behavior that young people all over the world will try and emulate for weeks after the movie closes.  Not that I look forward to the legion of stories about kids playing Jackass and setting themselves on fire in shopping carts, mind you, but the spectacle of a Jackass film is not to be easily dismissed.
