avatar1The powers that be missed on their calculations for the box office this last weekend with Avatar bringing in $4 million more than report, totalling $77 million.   It’s obvious that the word-of-mouth is working because Avatar‘s sales only dropped 3% from Saturday to Sunday. Sunday night was buzzing at the movie theaters, making up for lost time caused by the East Coast storm.    Some big movies are coming next weekend that may knock Avatar down a rung or two, such as Sherlock Holmes and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Squeakuel.  Up in the Air opens wider this Wednesday, too.
