Doll Face Online Review–Of Surprising Depth
So here’s an interesting little short film for you today–a clever little concept title called Doll Face.
Doll Face features a machine by the same name as it peruses television channels in a bid to locate a new face for itself. But the search for perfection will cost the doll faced machine much more than it ever bargained for.
You can make all sorts of allegorical points out of this one–the unattainabilty of physical perfection, the transient nature of beauty, the weakness of technology, the destructive role the media can play, and so on right down the line.
It’s kind of interesting to see a short film that has one visceral meaning, one basic storyline (it’ll play out and be totally unambiguous) but also a whole bunch of substrata where there’s room for ambiguity. I like this idea, I really do.
The Screenhead Ten Scale is also sufficiently charmed to hand this sad, rich little beauty of a short an eight out of ten, and hopes it can find more like this.

even better version with VNV Nation song Illusion.
