Hollywood Teaches Geography YouTube Review– Learning Fun, Hollywood Style
Normally, in the YouTube review slot, I’d talk about a short film, something with a narrative. But the crew out at Cinema Blend couldn’t stop talking about this one, so I figured I’d throw in too.
It’s called Hollywood Teaches Geography, and it uses scenes from a hundred different movies in just six minutes to introduce the view to a a hundred and fourteen different country names.
This might well be one of the most preposterous, and yet hilarious, YouTube shorts I’ve seen in a long while. It’s just a bunch of movie clips strung together but they all describe different countries. Austria, Albania, Poland, England…they’re all here!
The Screenhead Ten Scale, meanwhile, can’t get enough innovation and thus hands this quirky short gem a seven out of ten for doing exactly what it set out to do and doing it darned well. Of course, the value of this short as a teaching tool is somewhat dubious, but this isn’t school…it’s just YouTube.
