Anyone remember the last episode of Futurama?  The one where Fry temporarily takes possession of the Robot Devil’s hands so he can play the holophonor and get Leela’s attention?  Remember the part when Bender gets out the dictionary and caps it off with “Now THAT’S irony!”

I end this rambling monologue by saying, no, Bender…THIS is irony.

Apparently Kevin Smith‘s new buddy cop movie has had a new name change.  The film that started out as A Couple of Dicks is now–get this–COP OUT.

No, seriously.  It’s actually CALLED Cop Out!  Like that isn’t a huge kick in the slats to the same kind of uptight studio execs that wouldn’t like Zack and Miri, well, Make A Porno.  I personally find this a masterstroke of irony, and in all honesty, have to give due kudos to Kevin Smith for coming up with a real sock in the gut for the studio folks and yet still bring us his own kind of buddy cop romp.
