Kathryn Bigelow chalks up another honor today for her film The Hurt Locker. Bigelow won the New York Film Critics Circle’s award for best picture of 2009 and best director honors as well.

George Clooney won the actor prize for both Up in the Air and his vocal turn in Fantastic Mr. Fox while the movie won best animated-film award.  I am very happy to see Mr. Fox winning awards. Wes Anderson is brilliant in his craftsmanship of this laughable, zany film.

Meryl Streep won the best actress nod for her role as Julia Child in Julie and Julia. Mo’Nique took the supporting actress award for her role in Precious and Christoph Waltz earned the supporting actor nod for Inglourious Basterds.

The awards presentation will take place January 11, 2010 at local nightspot Crimson.
