School of the Dead YouTube Review–Amateur Hour

December 17th, 2009 in Uncategorized -

I love that the zombie short film movement continues unabated.  I truly do.  Zombie films and me are old friends, and it’s usually entertaining to see what other people do with the concept.

In School of the Dead, meanwhile, it’s about what you’d expect–zombies assault a local high school, and the student body is desperate to survive.  It’s actually a much meatier concept than the short film format would imply.

And they can’t get too meaty with it, being as they’re a short film.  But for total amateurs this actually isn’t too bad.  Sure, the acting’s pretty sad, there’s almost no dialogue and the effects are pretty much limited to fake blood and stagecraft, but aside from that, this isn’t terrible.

The Screenhead Ten Scale is always happy to reward young talent and potential with decent ratings and gives this one a four out of ten, skewed for ABUNDANT effort.
