Star Trek Sequel? Starts In 2010!

star-trek-inspirational-posterOh yes, folks, you read that right–the sequel to Star Trek starts filming in 2010, and it’s going to be just plain old AMAZING.

See, I loved the first one.  The first one was entirely too good to miss.  It actually managed to treat the original canon with respect and then go off and create its OWN canon.  That’s a comparative rarity as far as science fiction remakes go, so it’s definitely got me looking forward to more.

Zoe Saldana, whom you’ll remember played Uhura in the first one, gave lots of dish about the upcoming release:

“I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year.”

There you go.  Late 2010–almost 2011–before they even get started.  Ah well, it’s not as though we don’t have plenty  else going on!  So it’ll be a long wait, but if this one turns out half as well as the first, it’ll be time well spent.

JJ, if you’re listening, please, please don’t use Khan as the main bad guy, set him up for the third movie but don’t set Star Trek 2 around him!!!!!

Nope, didn’t like it at all. Surprised you did. Just an excuse to hang a bang or three up there on the screen married up to some familiar character names. They didn’t even seem to know that Bones is from Sawbones, ferchrissakes, or understand the seafaring terms used in Trek in general.
