Now here’s a poser for you, folks.  Remember when we were talking about how Tobey Maguire was only kinda sorta interested in handling another Spider Man role?  Well, turns out he might have had reason all along.

It’s recently been revealed that the spectacular Spider Man himself has been in talks with the Hobbit folks to step in and play none other than Frodo’s uncle Bilbo.

In one sense, this is definitely an out-of-nowhere kind of surprise.  After all, how do you go from playing Spider Man to playing Bilbo Baggins?  Not exactly a straight-line career arc, now is it?  But at the same time, considering that Tobey Maguire at least bears some small resemblance to his possible “nephew”, it makes a lot of sense to cast Maguire in the part.

It’ll be a while to go before any of this news is official, considering they haven’t even really gotten that far along yet, but keep it here for all the latest.
