Unlikely Heroes YouTube Review–A Good Idea Poorly Executed
Merry Christmas to all my readers who celebrate it, and today we’ve got an extra special super nifty treat in our sack for you, it’s a little YouTube short by the name of Unlikely Heroes.
Unlikely Heroes is a machinima (a movie shot via game footage) in Gerry’s Mod of Half-Life, with one key point: it’s the Teletubbies in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
Now, admittedly, this wins some points all on its own for being a concept of sheer ridiculous glory. Sending the Teletubbies, armed with an array of lethal hardware, against a army of the undead, is definitely not the kind of thing we see every day.
But surely we could’ve got more out of it than this. In fact, the ending is really rather half-baked, and the whole thing just feels so simplistic that it’s nowhere near the fun we should have had with this.
That and Po is really a flamethrower kind of Teletubby.
For an excellent idea that just couldn’t go the distance, I’m left with no option but to hand this one a five out of ten. Nice try, folks–let’s hope the next one’s better.
