‘Up in the Air’ Wins NBR Best Film

On December 3rd, 2009

Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air was honored with best film of the year by the New York-based National Board of Review.

Its star George Clooney shared best actor honors with Morgan Freeman, who plays Nelson Mandela in Invictus. Clint Eastwood the director of Invictus was honored with best director.

Carey Mulligan earned the best actress nod for her role in An Education.

    The last 2 years the NBR film of the year won the Oscar. Up in the Air is definitely a favourite at this stage

    I was thinking that too. I can’t image this film winning best picture Oscar. Nominated yes.

    It’s a tough call. The trailer makes it look like a light romantic drama- hardly Oscar-winning material. But the reviews have been amazing! But the only other real candidate is Invictus, and will people vote for Clint yet again?

    True, it is a tough call. Yes, the reviews have been grand. Clint again? Good point.

    It will be an interesting feat to watch because of 10 nominations of the category.

    Precious keeps coming to mind; it has a chance, being a bleeding heart movie.
