That’s the official word, folks–there is absolutely nothing more than a hefty dose of hearsay and some snarky jokes to suggest that Robert Pattinson will be playing the next Spider Man in the upcoming disaster, the Spider Man reboot.

That’s actually not the strangest name I’ve heard so far.  I’ve heard Taylor Lautner come up, I’ve heard Michael Cera, I’ve heard a whole LOT of names, and at this stage of the game, virtually anything is possible.

There’s no indication at all that anyone’s being seriously considered, or that anyone’s “in talks”, or anything like that.  I mean, they did only just announce the reboot a few days ago.  It’s way too soon to get any reputable casting news.

But in this industry, you never really know.  The most outlandish, impossible news can be the most accurate, or at least, the most fun to talk about.  And the ironclad, bulletproof accurate statement of today is tomorrow’s steaming pantload.  That’s movie journalism, folks–so brace yourselves.  We’re on the bleeding edge here, and what a ride it is.
