Cowboys And Aliens Moving Along Rapidly

cowboys vs. aliensApparently when Jon Favreau looks to move on a movie, he doesn’t waste any time.  The word is that the now highly in demand Robert Downey Jr. might be coming along for the ride on the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens, based on the comic book of the same name.

Interestingly, it’s one of those titles that’s pretty much what it says on the box–in other words, the plot is basically cowboys taking on aliens.  This is of course nothing new if you played Fallout 3′s Mothership Zeta installment, but for everybody else, it’ll be new.

They’re looking to start filming this sucker in July, and as is pretty much the standard for big budget action / science fiction these days, it’s going to be filmed in 3-D.  Frankly, at this stage of the game, it would’ve been a bigger surprise to discover that it was NOT going to be filmed in 3-D.

If they’re starting to film July of this year, I’d say look for this one in time for summer movie season of 2011, possibly 2012.
