Denzel Washington Talks Spiritual about ‘The Book of Eli’

Great interview with Denzel Washington concerning his choices in films and his spiritual side of life. This oscar-winning actor stopped by The Today Show to talk to Matt Lauer about his role in the new movie, The Book of Eli,which opens this Friday.
In the interview, Denzel takes a moment to open up about his spiritual side, (he is currently finishing up his third time of reading the Bible cover to cover) and also talk a bit about his preparation for the movie (he insisted on performing his own stunts).
I had already planned on seeing The Book of Eli. My only hesitation of seeing this movie was who directed this movie ( Albert and Allen Hughes ). The Hughes brothers are not my favorite directors … or I should say I am not a real fan of most of their previous films they have directed, but for some reason The Book of Eli seems intriguing to me and I love Denzel Washington as an actor. With this latest interview that you have posted I am more determined to see this movie. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
Denzel is a pretty awesome in handling the press, he’s humbling.

Denzel, get a grip. The Book of Eli was a turkey. It was stillborn. While there were moments where the movie could have taken interesting turns it never did. For example, the villain in the movie says something like, 'If I could get my hands on the book I could control more people than I do now,' or something like that. Jesus, now there's an opportunity to explore the entire theme of the mission of Christian churches to control the lives, actions, finances and the sexual interactions of people in normal, every day life. Let's not forget the inquisitions which were a monumental attempt at thought and behavior control that costs something in excess of a quarter million lives. This movie was beneath you. Of course I still think you're a gifted actor. I do believe this movie was ill-chosen.
