Edge of Darkness Original BBC Miniseries

Some of you may be excited about Mel Gibson returning to the silver screen in Edge of Darkness. But some of you may not be aware of the fact that Gibson’s movie is based on an original BBC miniseries of the same name starring Bob Peck.
So, if you didn’t get enough of Edge of Darkness this weekend consider taking a look at the original BBC miniseries. It’s a formula miniseries that premiered in 1986 earning 5 BAFTA awards: Best Drama Series/Serial, Best Actor (Bob Peck), Best Original Television Music (Eric Clapton & Michael Kamen), Best Film Cameraman (Andrew Dunn), Best Film Editor (Ardan Fisher, Dan Rae), Best Film Sound (Dickie Bird, Rob James, Christopher Swantoni, Tony Quinn).
From reading Steve Anderson’s review of Gibson’s movie, the nuclear corruption is still part of the story as well as the death of the main character’s daughter. I am sure 1986 nuclear corruption is different from 2010 nuclear corruption. I also believe, cops guns are bigger now than they were then.
All in all, I am sure the BBC version is worth a look.

The original was very very special BBC at its best
please never post again you ignorant prick.
