G.I. Joe Sequel Gets A Writer!

gi joeThe up shot about writing the G.I. Joe sequel is that, no matter how bad it does, you’ll still come out of it up maybe a couple million bucks because chances are you’ll be at least partially paid based on a percentage.

Considering the last G.I. Joe actually lost about twenty million dollars of its shooting budget before video sales kicked in, a development that still doesn’t fail to get a chuckle out of me, the sequel can’t do a whole lot worse than the first one did.

Unless, of course, they spend two hundred million on this one and only get back a hundred and fifty, but still–you’re writing the sequel to a money-losing film.  How bad can it be?  You could bungle it irrevokably, and what’s the difference?

There’s no word on if Stephen Sommers will come back for more whining–I mean, to direct again–or just who that writer is just yet, but we know he’s there, and we know this is going to be something really impressive to watch, no matter how it turns out.
