Helen Mirren In Quentin Tarantino Movie?

January 29th, 2010 in Actors, Directors, Movie News, Movies -

helen-mirrenThis next piece does scream of utter bullhonkery for several reasons, not least of which is the overwhelming fact that Quentin Tarantino doesn’t make movies that don’t have something to do with the seventies, but also that putting Helen Mirren in a “Medieval period piece” as a “violent and foul-mouthed queen” is both preposterous and wildly compelling.

For her part, Mirren utterly denies such a thing, though she does deny it rather fondly, stating:

“I wish. I should be so lucky.”

This means precious little, however–it may mean she simply hasn’t been contacted YET, or she hasn’t screen-tested, or any of a dozen other possibilities.

I have to admit that I DO like the idea of Tarantino trying his hand at something that isn’t a remake or a homage of something from the seventies (just like Inglorious Bastards, oh wait, his was Inglourious Basterds), and Helen Mirren is just plain old awesome (ask Sam Jack if you don’t believe) but for right now, it’s just a rumor and can’t be called anything but.
