Necropolis Reborn YouTube Review–Award Winning Zombie Short

January 8th, 2010 in Horror, Movies, Reviews -

This one you’re about to see, Necropolis Reborn, actually took second place at the 2008 Dismember The Alamo festival at the Alamo Drafthouse.  And considering it’s a ten minute short, it’s definitely got the ambition to do the job.  But does it have the content?  Let’s take a look.

We follow our main character, Uncle Bob, as he blasts his way through the zombie wastes toward his ultimate goal as he contends against Nefarious Thorne, the undead scientist who’s out to remake the whole world in his image.

First, that’s definitely not according to Hoyle in the Romero sense, but it DOES have shades of Coscarelli’s Phantasm series going on and that ain’t bad.  No, not by any stretch of the imagination should that be construed as bad.

This frankly could very, VERY easily be expanded into a feature length film.  All it needs is a bankroll sufficient to the job and we could be seeing this in theaters.  There’s more than enough material here, in fact, there’s almost too much going on for a short film.  But what’s here is still highly entertaining.

And it’s easily one of the best YouTube short zombie films I’ve seen in some time.

The Screenhead Ten Scale hands Necropolis Reborn, an incredible if a bit overambitious little title, a nine out of ten–someone needs to give this guy a call.
