Planet of The Apes Reboots Again

January 25th, 2010 in Box Office, Directors, Movie News, Movies, Remakes, Sci-Fi -

I love you, Dr. Zaius!

Seriously, though, I don’t look for the second reboot of Planet of the Apes to descend quite to the level of the Troy McClure musical “Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want To Get Off!” that they did on The Simpsons, but still, this can’t be good.

Originally, this new re-reboot was slated to be an origin story, showing how one hyper-intelligent chimp named Cesar managed to start a genetic overthrow of man, but Fox seemed to disapprove, and thus the re-reboot itself was rebooted and they say it’s going to look more like the original reboot, with an astronaut crashlanding on the planet.

Of course, considering that Tim Burton just did the reboot less than a decade ago, one wonders if this is really that smart an idea.  But then one remembers, hey, it’s Hollywood. Yet considering that no one much enjoyed that one, perhaps they could get away with it.  Seems like a long shot to me, but stranger things have happened.
