Totally free, totally awesome movie: Ink on Hulu
Every once in a while, I go on Hulu to see what movies that I can watch for free. Most of the time, the free movies were films that didn’t do well when they were first released, and it was no wonder why they were there. Of course, if you are watching a movie for free, the only thing that you can claim to waste is your time.
One time I was on Hulu and I saw a film called Ink. It was Science Fiction, and I had never heard of it. I assumed it was some Sci-Fi channel movie of the week, but have a tendency for being quite mediocre.
Of course from the first line in the film, which is the f-bomb three times, I realized that this was not a film that was made for TV, at least not American TV.
According to imdb.com:
No big studio picked up the film for theatrical and home distribution. Double Edge Films pitched the movie directly to independent cinemas and to the DVD, Blu-ray and online distribution by themselves. After the release it became the most downloaded movies in file sharing torrent sites more accurately 400,000 times in a single week and exposed the film to a large audience, leading to higher DVD and Blu-ray sales in return.
The film is a very amazing premise about two races of people who are unseen by humans. The first type come to you at night and give you good dreams. The second are the opposite, and they give you nightmares. The nightmare people look very cool, as their faces are a screen that has a photo negative of a guys wearing glasses.
I realize that doesn’t sound cool at all, but what makes this film work is the same thing that made The Matrix work: entry into a secret world with subtle nuances. One nuance is that when a good-dream person and a bad dream person fight, the objects that they wreck in their tussle miraculously repair themselves. The film had me there.
Ink has an interesting plot about a man who must face up to his mistakes in his life, and it has a relatively easy-to-see twist. However, this films is quite neat, and totally free, so watch it on the embedded video below, and it will only cost you your time.
