Stop me if you’ve heard this one already…oh wait…you have.

Despite the fact that the earlier rumors to this effect had been soundly debunked at the time, the rumor has gained a resurgence due to new information.

Apparently, it’s now entirely possible that new Freddy Krueger himself, Jackie Earle Haley, will be stepping in to play the evil version of a Green Lantern, Sinestro.

Admittedly, at the time, the debunk was quite legit, when Haley himself said he hadn’t screen-tested for the part.  But current word out of the studio itself says that Haley is their “only choice”, based on their current relationship with him, which includes his two biggest roles, Rorschach from Watchmen and, once again, Freddy Krueger.

The current word further says that Sinestro’s part in the first Green Lantern will be comparatively small, and mostly just a setup for the sequel.
