A new and terribly exciting rumor just out says that they may well have found an actor for the lead in the upcoming Captain America movie, and it’s none other than Star Trek’s own new Captain Kirk, Chris Pine.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I think this may well be the best casting move I’ve seen in some time. Chris Pine is young, clearly athletic (Star Trek alone is proof positive of that) and definitely has the look of a young super hero, especially one so iconic as Captain America.

But there may be some skullduggery going on here–no Red Skull pun intended!–as we discover this bit of news from “an insider” in Paramount:

Anyway, just thought you guys might like to know that Paramount and Marvel are pretty close to closing a deal on casting Steve Rogers/Captain America and fans might be excited to learn that the short list includes somebody a lot of fans speculated about, Chris Pine. From what I’m hearing, he’s the frontrunner right now, though that could change. Can’t tell you who the other couple of choices are, cause that’ll work against me for reasons I don’t want to get into.

One, why wouldn’t they want to tell who else was on the short list?  Why not even tell WHY they can’t tell who else is on the short list?  There’s something a bit rotten here, folks, and while I’m not sure what…YET…we’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
