Disney Planning to Sell Miramax–Who’s Buying?
The current word is: Summit.
Flush with cash raked in from a host of Twi-hards, Summit’s apparently got a wallet full of loot a-burnin’ a hole in its collective pants because Disney’s offer is looking pretty good.
Disney’s set out a price on the Miramax name and its seven hundred film library of seven hundred million bucks, and apparently, Summit’s interested and one of the only serious buyers to be named so far.
Such a deal would work out great for Summit, who could definitely use some movies in its arsenal. Sure, they’ve got some monster properties right now–the Twilight saga will earn them money until sometime around the heat-death of the universe–but they really only have a few properties at all. If they got their hands on Pulp Fiction and Chicago and all those great Miramax titles,it would be a great revenue stream for them, and a little more diverse.
Should something happen to the Twihards, Summit would be in a world of hurt because they don’t have much else going on and no one BUT the Twihards actually likes the series, as evidenced by the mammoth bulk of negative reviews against it.
So will Miramax be a Summit property? Don’t know. But keep it here for all the latest.
