New Muppet Movie Gets New Title
It was originally–hilariously–to be called The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, but after a few second thoughts and probably more than a little Executive Meddling, it has now been retitled (or is it reTRITEled, ho ho) to The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time.
And the plotline, frankly, isn’t looking much better–it follows the Muppet gang as they seek to save their studio from a villain with the downright mustachio-twirling name of Tex Richman as he schemes to gain access to a vast oil well located directly beneath the Muppet studio.
Thus, the Muppets, in grandest Muppet fashion, will have to put on a truly blockbuster show and charge admission so they can save the studio and…well…put on more shows, I guess.
Of course, all this would’ve been avoided if Kermit had just grown a pair and negotiated with Richman to use horizontal drilling so the studio could stay standing and they’d make a pile of cash off the oil interest, but then we wouldn’t have a movie, would we? Worse yet, the writer doesn’t have much faith in the script, saying it only “really hits the mark about sixty five percent of the time”.
Still, it’s a new Muppet movie, and can a Muppet movie ever be TRULY bad?
