Roland Emmerich talks about Foundation

February 11th, 2010 in Directors, Sci-Fi -

31635Roland Emmerich, who destroyed the world as we will know it two years from now in 2012, is looking to adapt Foundation. It appears that Emmerich has a writer aboard with Robert Rodat, the guy who wrote Saving Private Ryan.

If you haven’t heard of Foundation, then you clearly need to read more “classic” science fiction works from Isaac Asimov. Emmerich plans to film the original trilogy of these books, and he wants to do it in…you guessed it…3D, using the same tech from Avatar.

Something tells me that this Foundation won’t translate well into the big screen. Remember I, Robot? Granted, it’s a pretty good movie, but it was “suggested” by the works of Isaac Asimov. I don’t remember a robot revolution like that in the original book of short stories.

Well, lets see if Emmerich can do a Foundation movie that isn’t a disaster. You know, like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012.
