Scream of the Bikini Movie Trailer

February 10th, 2010 in Uncategorized -

I found this trailer today, and I couldn’t believe it. I kept thinking that it was some bad sixties spy film that, for some dumb reason, got released. However, I checked it out on imdb.com, and it is a modern film.

It is not directed by Fernando Fernandez, but by Kiff Scholl, and actor who is making his directorial debut. Here’s the film’s synopsis:

Scream of the Bikini is a 1960s action-spy-thriller by acclaimed South American director, Fernando Fernandez. Jasmine Orosco and Paola Apanapal – in their English language film debuts – are Bridget and Sophia: gorgeous super models by day, brutal bounty hunters by night. Murder, intrigue and pillow fights await our beautiful leading ladies at every turn, as they match wits and martial arts with a coterie of madmen and women bent on world domination. Filmed somewhere in South America in 1966, and poorly translated and dubbed by Germans, this unintentionally funny James Bond meets Barbarella love child plumbs the seedy depths of the international fashion model/psycho-killer underworld with a boldness that only a gun to the head can provide.

Yes, the title doesn’t make any sense, and yes, sixties-style spy flick has been done before. Who knows what will make this one different.

I think this one is on DVD, and has won some awards. Anyone care to comment whether it is worth seeing?

It’s actually pretty hilarious. I caught a screening of it at Cinespace. Retro, campy, cheapy goodness. It doesn’t get much better than this. I would try to catch one of the upcoming screenings at the Laemmle Sunset 5 next weekend.

Saw this fabulously funny in D.C. It won the Top Comic Award which it well deserved. It’s making the rounds of festivals and is in LA at Laemmle Sunset 5 next weekend.
    Definitely see it.
Multi-generationally appealing, my son and I saw it together and laughed ourselves silly!

I saw this film with very low expectations. I thought…. Eh, why not. I was tearing up in laughter! It was so “stupid good!” They did such a great job reinventing the wheel! I’m mean, when you’ve seen something in a film where you sigh out with boredom… “that was stupid,” you know it’s bad. BUT, with Sceam of the Bikini! You roll out laughing and say, “THAT WAS STUPID!!!” It’s really well done!! Check it out if you ever get the chance!
