Soderbergh’s Star-Studded Contagion Gets Distro

February 19th, 2010 in Actors, Box Office, Directors, Horror, Movies, Suspense, Thriller -

steven-soderbergh-with-neck-beardWarner Brothers, ladies and gentlemen, has decided to pick up Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming survival horror epic, Contagion.

It’s being called “Outbreak for the new century”, and has a surprisingly low budget for a major release with some serious names.  Check out the partial cast list: Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Jude Law.  That’s quite a cast list, but here’s the shocker–they’re filming this on a sixty million dollar budget.

Matt Damon and Steven Soderbergh have been doing a LOT of work together–we just talked about their recent The Informant! here a few days ago–and it’s generally been a good sign to put these two together.

Considering that I’m personally a huge survival horror fan, and Matt Damon and Steven Soderbergh have been a great duo, I’m very much enthused about catching Contagion when it gets out.  Not a whole lot of data on release dates yet, I’m afraid, but this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
