Summit Entertainment Gets Writer For Dracula Script
This hit me as news from two different directions–one, I was downright baffled to discover that Summit Entertainment (whom you’ll no doubt remember from the Twilight Saga) was working on a script for yet another sort-of remake of the classic Dracula called Vlad, and two, I discovered that they were having rewrites done on the script. And it turns out it’s Scott Kozar, writer of The Machinist, who was brought in to tackle the rewrite duties.
Well, on the plus side, at least THESE vampires won’t sparkle.
…will they?
The thought of a glittery Dracula is almost too much to bear. But there’s plenty of hope here–the original writer of the Vlad script says that HIS script called for a big focus on Vlad the Impaler, not so much on Dracula, the vampire legend that would spring forth from Vlad Dracul.
So at least we can be reasonably assured that there won’t be a whole lot of sparkling going on here, and that we’ll get something like an interesting, if bloody, bit of historical drama that may have at least a passing acquaintance with history. And if that’s the worst news we get today, well, I’ll call it a pretty good day.
