The big news of the weekend, folks, seems to be all about Sundance. And one of the biggest chunklets of news to emerge from one of the biggest film festivals known to mankind is about the release The Killer Inside Me.

It’s been both loved and reviled for its extreme violence towards the ladies, and it’s definitely a movie that kept a lot of people talking.  But here’s the interesting part, folks–IFC has picked this one up.  Yes, the Independent Film Channel, who’s planning on giving this one a near-simultaneous release between theaters and their on-demand platforms.

Considering that people were actually going up to director Michael Winterbottom and telling him that his movie was “reprehensible” (one of my personal fave ways to say “it stinks!” in the grandest Jay Sherman style), this may well have been the best of all possible moves.  There was no way this sucker’d last in wide release.  The protests would have been massive.  But IFC has the resources to give it a decent release for anyone who cares enough to seek it out.

So kudos, and hopefully it’ll work out for you.
