Underwood Joins ‘Soul Surfer’
Country music singerCarrie Underwood joins Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt and AnnaSophia Robb in the independent drama Soul Surfer. The movie concerns Bethany Hamilton, a teen surfing champ who is a shark attack survivor. Sean McNamara is directing the movie that marks Underwood’s big screen debut.
The Soul Surfer is based on Hamilton’s autobiography. The story follows surf icon (Robb) who defied all odds to competeand win professional championships after losing her arm in a shark attack at age 13. Quaid and Hunt play Hamilton’s parents. Underwood will play the role of a church youth leader.
Production began filming in Hawaii this week.
