Cruz Is To Be A Pirate’s Daughter in Pirates 4
It was excited news for Pirates fans and male moviegoers when the announcement came that Penelope Cruz was joining the cast of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides a while ago. Now, in a recent interview with MTV, Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed more details about the fourth installment of his famous movie series, including Cruz’s role in the film. She is scheduled to play the daughter of Blackbeard himself.
According to Bruckheimer, Cruz’s role will add a great deal of humor to the film, though she will be a feisty, new character. He also told MTV that she will also be a potential love interest for Captain Jack Sparrow, shivering his timbers with some romance. Ian McShane has signed on to the film as Blackbeard the pirate and Geoffrey Rush is returning as Captain Hector Barbossa as well.
If you saw the last pirate film, At World’s End, you may remember that several hints were dropped about Jack’s next quest being the search for the Fountain of Youth. This will be the focus of the story in On Stranger Tides as the pirate movie series moves forward. However, long-time Pirates director Gore Verbinski will not be returning to the series and has been replaced by Rob Marshall. Film production will begin in June and the fourth film is set for release in Summer 2011.
