Day & Night Pixar’s Short Before Toy Story 3
On March 13th, 2010

Pixar always places a short before its feature film. Day & Night is going before Toy Story 3. Looking at the artwork, it appears the short will be in 2D.
That’s all I have on the film for now. Below is an official write up of the short film.
“When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly! Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot. But as they discover each other’s unique qualities — and come to realize that each of them offers a different window onto the same world — the friendship helps both to gain a new perspective.”

I thought the short was really good animation and Pixar had a really good thing going with this one….until someone had a bad idea to put something vulgar in there. The day character hovering over a girl in a bikini with her legs opened, with "Day" breathing hard and moving up and down and up and down above her. It was completely intentional and completely inappropriate. It was really upsetting to me when my five year old and my 14 year old were watching…which the situation did not escape my 14 year old's notice! Why does some dirty, sick minded adult humor always have to be inserted into our kid's movies?
It's sad that this is what you take away from a little movie with such a beautiful message about friendship and acceptance. There was nothing sick or inappropriate about it.
I agree with Cmcmcm. Why add something overtly sexual to what was, up to that point, a highly creative, disciplined piece of art?
Then, why end the piece by taking a pot shot at conservatives by using a tired old stereotype of them having no ability to embrace any new ideas?! How sad. What could have been a totally start-to-finish brilliant message about differing points-of-view, ends up being a tainted, politically blatant and clumsy swipe at conservatives.
I'm an INDEPENDENT and I expect MORE from Pixar/Disney than that!
Everything was sick and inappropriate in it. The mostly naked lady with the wolf howling at her. There is a shot of Vegas where people are gambling and drinking inside and there is punching and throwing people off cliffs. HOW is none of that offensive!?! NOT only is it offensive, it is just plain not entertaining. We took children to see this movie; you know, the kind it was made for. This short was NOT made for those children, and should not have been put with this movie. Disney/Pixar should be fined for subjecting our children to this, it was ridiculous! I understand they are trying to make a point…but you can’t try to do that with children 2-8 years old!!
wow it must be pathetic being you. I hope for your sake you are joking. You call someone lying on the beach with a bikini 'a vulgar and sick minded adult humor'?! As for the shot of Vegas, you get to see the lights of a couple buildings, you don't see any gambling or drinking; purpose being to show how the place livens up during night in contrast to everything else which are livelier during day.
Anyway I'm quite sure you are joking. Or else you are in hiding within a church and have never seen daylight.
Concerned, you seem unable to express an opinion without putting someone down. Does it make you feel better about yourself?
