Ivan Reitman May Not Make Another Ghostbusters Film
Of course, as a director, Ivan Reitman is well-known for his work on Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. He is unarguably a big part of the legendary movie franchise. However, Sony Columbia seems to imply that his age could be a liability to the production of Ghostbusters 3. According to sources, Sony wishes to seek out a younger director to breathe new life into the movie series.
Nevertheless, Reitman would not be ousted from the movie project on their authority. He has the legal support to retain his role as director and his authority overrides that of the film studio. It kind of remind us of George Lucas and his fight to keep the Star Wars series as his own exclusive property decades ago. In today’s culture, directors seem driven to retain ownership of their own creative work.
However, whether or not Ivan Reitman is still committed to making another Ghostbusters film is still an unanswered question. The veteran director has other projects currently in the works such as Fuckbuddies, which will be starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, so the man is still working. Thus, Reitman’s final decision regarding the third movie’s production could be determined by the quality of the current script, which still lies in doubt and the lack of enthusiasm from Ghostbusters star Bill Murray would be another issue as well.
